TRANSCENDENT: A Concert Fundraiser for the Trans Women of Color Collective
I'm shaking it up this week! Tune in to learn about our event this Saturday, and what you can do to support trans women of color in the US and Jamaica
Welcome to TRANSCENDENT 2021! Thank you for tuning in to support an organization doing difficult and important work. This fundraiser seeks to uplift, celebrate, and honor trans women through art, conversation, and mutual aid. Follow us on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter for consistent updates :)
Our fundraising goal is $10,000. So far, we’re 10% of the way there. With your help donating and spreading the word, we’ll be able to reach the match goal by the end of our event on Saturday night. Some context for donations:
Last year's average donation was $35
If you donate $40, you'll receive a Hummingbird x Solidarity Skates official shirt
For $50, you’ll also get a personalized playlist from Evan Gaines, Andrew Edds, or me (michael gorman) :)
To participate in our live-streamed event on Nov. 20 at 6pm est, head over to our YouTube or Facebook accounts. Expect to see some incredible talent, such as Lady Ro and Kotic Couture!
To donate, head to twocc.us/donate or Venmo @hummingbirdmag. If you donate directly through their website, make sure to add the phrase "TRANSCENDENT" in your description. Once you're done, send your receipt to thehummingbirdmag@gmail.com so we can make sure every donation is doubled.
Central to TWOCC’s cause is shifting narratives from surviving to thriving. Their mission is to uplift the narratives, leadership, and lived experiences of trans and gender non-conforming people of color, while building toward the collective liberation of all oppressed people. Learn more about their work at their website: twocc.us
The Human Rights Campaign reported last week that 2021 has been the deadliest year on record for transgender people. Know that your money will go toward housing, feeding, and supporting trans women of color as they continue to thrive despite living in a state that imposes violence against them on a daily basis.
Please find Hummingbird Mag on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter and repost our latest posts about the event. Including a personal note about the cause, your relationship with members of Hummingbird’s staff, or other methods of garnering more attention are super helpful in encouraging more donations.
Thank you for your continued support,
Michael Gorman
